Moses is said to be known about him as the most humble man in the land. While this statement is true for Moses at time when we come to Chapter 20 of the book of Numbers we see that this humbled man of God has become a man filled with anger and frustration. Through this anger and frustration Moses’ actions towards the chosen people of God is not pleasing to God in the end. God commanded Moses to simply speak to the rock and through the power of God water would flow however Moses instead disobey the voice of God and he hit the rock. As a result Moses through his disobedience did not take God at His Word and through hitting the rock out of anger he did not up hold that Holy standard of God and He did not get to enter into the Land that was promised to Abraham.
As pastors and future leaders that will represent God in the future we must be careful of our action towards the people that God will give us or the ones He has already given us. Pastoring is not an easy job nor is it an enjoyable job at times. Pastoring is not a job that you do to be popular but it is a job that is very lonely at times. As the shepherd over the Israel Moses was not a popular man and he dealt with a lot of crap from his sheep however as a humbled man of God he was to obey His Commander and Chief and not his emotions and at time as pastor we will allow our emotions to rule our actions instead of our spiritual man ruling actions. At the end of the day we could not take things personal but to just look at it like a job that can have its enjoyable moments but can also have its hell moments to. As pastors and ministries of God He is looking for faithful men and woman to be a great representation of Him. We must remember that it was Him who called us to labor in the fields of ministry and not mankind. Our reward for staying committed to Him is one day I want to hear Him say well done and faithful servant.
